(Repost and update) To preface- I don't know if you guys have ever played Invictus Games' !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from back in 2003, but it's a blast. You are able to build cars part-by-part, tune them in very specific ways, and drive around like the hooligan you'd like to be if there were no consequences to your actions. Despite its age now being that of a high school student, it maintains a significant following. It's just different than other racing games and is kept fresh by an active modding community.

Kinja'd!!!

Let's see this, but modernized by a decade of serious progress.

The same is true, according to Invictus, of a game they plan to develop to succeed SLRR: Street Tuning Evolution. It will incorporate the same emphasis on the garage aspect of cars and the fun of simply cruising around in an overpowered car you tweak every aspect of, challenging other modified machines. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! —with a $150,000 goal for about 13 months from now—to get things off the ground. As a small and independent developer, Invictus needs some initial backing to get things off the ground. Don't despair as, so far, things are well under way. The funding is currently sitting at ~$20,000 and rising steadily. The community playing the 13-year-old predecessor is vocal and substantial, and many people are dedicated to making the game a reality. Just $15 will get a steam key when the game's final version is released, and (far more importantly) your name in the credits. I'm not a "real gamer" per se, but this is a game tailored towards our interests. Anyone interested should support this game, as I believe it's well worth supporting. If you're unsure, download SLRR and see for yourself how fun the archaic masterpiece is! It's engaging, unique, and very entertaining.

You won't be charged unless the project is kickstarted, so essentially you have a finished game payable Feb. 2015 if it's successful with no real risk. Here is some content from the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :

I never had any issues with bugs in the game a few years ago, but it wouldn't be surprising for a game of that age that's been altered a great deal over its lifetime. Frankly, I was surprised at how smoothly things went throughout the gameplay.

Looks interesting. But do they have the licencing for real world cars? Or are they hoping that modders add them so they can get around any legal issues?

I'm not sure of the exact details, but I recall that they had a specific amount of funding at which they would include licensed cars. That's the beauty of the Kickstarter campaign; they are under no pressure to spit out a game quickly and will continuously improve the game to their financial limits. If they don't have enough to license cars beforehand, without a publisher they'd probably be able to add cars as people bought the finished project. SLRR was published by Activision IIRC and didn't have licensed cars, although the mods are the kind of quality you'd expect out of a high-budget simulator because of accuracy down to individual parts. I don't mean to sound overly-eager or optimistic, but this genuinely seems to have great potential.

I liked Street Legal a lot. Heading to the dealership, buying a faux-Corolla with 3 doors, no bumpers, and one headlight because that money can go to a bigger engine and nitrous and the doors always fall off during the race anyway. Fun game. I'll have to get Redline...can I download it, or do I need to buy it?

I forgot about the doors! I included a hyperlink at the top for the latest version of SLRR. Street Tuning Evolution wouldn't come out until around april 2016.

The game was a mess but god damn it has spirit and the whole build your own car from scratch concept was brilliant. Honestly I'd be happy with just another build your own crazy car with real parts sim but adding in a racing game is worrying as shown by The Crew not focusing on the racing aspect is a death sentence.
